The social elements that define an environment are the humans or creatures that live within the physical space. On one hand, we have the physical characteristics, shaped by what are the mountains, the water bodies, hills, valleys, vegetation, buildings built by man, etc. When talking about landscapes, we have to encompass all the physical and social elements. A fundamental part of all fantastic story is its scenario since we see environments that help characters to perform their roles, like sorcerers, knights, etc. It is common that these types of stories are born of some existing belief of the time, and each author later changes it to their imagination or adapts it.
These kinds of stories, usually inspired by myths or legends, tell worlds where creatures and humans tend to coexist, and where magic and mystical powers are a daily issue. Fantastic stories would not be complete without a fantasy landscape that helps them to overflow with creativity.
